Evaporative cooling with CELdek®

The CELdek® cooling pads offer a natural and highly effective way to lower temperatures inside pig barns by leveraging the evaporative cooling principle. As warm air passes through the water-saturated pads, heat is absorbed during evaporation, resulting in cooler air entering the facility.

Why choose CELdek® for pig facilities?

  • High cooling efficiency: delivers up to 80% saturation efficiency depending on operative conditions and pad type, ensuring animal comfort even during extreme heat.
  • Durability: made with specially treated cellulose material for long lifespan, UV resistance, and minimal risk of algae buildup also in combination with MPG plastic gutter system.
  • Low maintenance: easy to clean and replace, reducing downtime and labour.

Evaporative cooling with High Pressure Fogging System

High pressure fogging system enables same level of cooling as evaporative cooling pads. Typically used in combination with sidewall or ceiling fresh air inlets and exhaust chimneys in the roof and/or side wall. High precision nozzles ensure a fine mist, or fog, injected into the fresh air stream at intervals, controlled in such a way that the fine mist evaporates before falling onto equipment or animals in the house.

FAQ

Find answers to the most common inquiries about evaporative cooling, system performance, and how to choose the right solution for your farm.

Why is heat stress dangerous for pigs?

Pigs cannot sweat efficiently. When exposed to high temperatures, they reduce feed intake and growth slows, leading to economic losses and poor welfare.

How do I know which cooling system is right for my farm?

It depends on your barn layout, climate zone, and production phase. Contact our experts for a custom recommendation.

What’s the difference between evaporative pads and fogging?

Evaporative pads cool incoming air, while fogging systems cool the air inside the barn. In some cases, combining them is ideal.
